I have actually hiked Wave Cave within the last year, but not as part of this challenge. My cousin Anna was still in town from Miami so we conquered this one together. It was exactly the kick in the butt we needed after a weekend of celebrating with too much food and alcohol. Wave Cave is a beautiful hike in the Superstition Mountains. It’s definitely a bit challenging because of the elevation gain and because the trail is not clearly marked. The first time I hiked this trail I got lost, so I knew better what to look for this time. You want to be sure you go through the green cattle gate instead of following the signs that say trail (those markers are for a different trail). Once you get towards the top there is some bouldering and climbing but nothing too difficult. Your legs will be burning, I won’t lie but the cave is definitely worth it. We had blah skies so I converted many of my images to black and white from this hike.
