Every now and then I can get my girls to join me on hikes. For me it’s important that they get outside and experience nature, however I want to introduce them to it on their terms so they do not grow to resent the hikes but rather enjoy them. My youngest is a little more excited to hike than my oldest. My oldest is really into Broadway, singing and dancing and I want to encourage her to find her path, but I won’t stop encouraging outdoor play in the meantime! On this hike we explored Spur Cross Ranch Area in Cave Creek. I like to geocache when I hike with the kids as it adds another element for them. This trail had a geocache right near the parking area. In locating the geocache we learned that the green Victorian house by the parking area was used in the filming of Flirting with Disaster. This was another pretty easy hike, with very little elevation gain. We did the Metate-Towhee loop which was around 2 miles. Once you are done with hiking there are a lot of great restaurant/shopping choices in Cave Creek!
