Every year since I turned 40 I start my new year off with a new adventure. It’s a reminder to myself to enjoy and make the most of the life that’s been given to me. Whatever happens in the year to come I can always say I started it with a grand adventure, whether it’s sky diving or flying a helicopter. This year I opted for 2 different adventures: White Water Rafting the Salt River and Moab Jeep Safari. While I don’t have many pictures from the White Water Rafting tour due to the nature of the activity, I will tell you it was adrenalin pumping. There is about a 2 month period to raft through the Salt River Canyon (March/April). Our tour guide was Mild to Wild Rafting (www.Mild2WildRafting.com). They did a great job of guiding us through the rapids as we dropped 20 feet per mile through the deep canyon walls with amazing views throughout the entire 1/2 day trip. An Arizona adventure worth repeating. The following weekend I jumped in my Jeep and headed to Moab where I met up with my cousin for a weekend exploring a couple Jeep trails and camping out in the Sand Flats Recreation area. I tackled Hell’s Revenge like I knew what I was doing! Fortunately I had just installed a 3.5 in Rubicon Sport Lift. I was still in need of new tires, but I made it out alive. The trails exceeded my expectations and the group I rode with was incredibly helpful and kind. My heart was pounding right out of the gate as I entered Hell’s Revenge and it continued for most of the trail. I felt so accomplished once I completed it though. The next day we headed out to Sevenmile Rim. The trail itself was much easier than the prior day but the views were outstanding. I topped off the day with a hike to watch the sunset at Delicate Arch in Arches National Park. A perfect set of adventures to begin this next year whatever it may be bring.
